Matilda Has No Intention of Following Her Family's Tradition of Building a Cocoon

Mathilda has spent her entire life as a caterpillar and it is a life she enjoys! She likes to slowly move her long body across the world with her little legs paddling to their destination. It feels nice to have all the different surfaces and textures rub against her belly. The texture she loves best is the smooth surface of summer leaves. But lately, one by one, all of her siblings and favored friends are transforming into moths or even more detestable, butterflies! They disappear for what seems like eons into bizarre structures called cocoons. When they finally reemerge, they are no longer caterpillars at all. Not only do her friends appearances change, but their attitudes. If they turn into butterflies they act elitist and smug. If they reemerge as moths they seem dazed and spastic. Mathilda enjoys her no-nonsenses, level-headed demeanor and had refused to ever build her own transformative cocoon.
