Sunshine on the Coast

I love the coast because I can look up and see the seabirds and the clouds passing by. I can look straight and see the sea splashing and crashing. And I can look down and see interesting seashells and stones. I was at the coast in Monterey recently, which is one of my favorite coasts to be at. Here are some pictures:

I heard something potentially disappointing today while listening to the podcast for 'Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me." Dolphins, the adorable sea mammals so revered for their high intelligence, may not be as smart as commonly assumed. Actually, dolphins may only have average or even below average animal intelligence. This is very upsetting news and I am not quite ready to give up on the idea that dolphins have superior intelligence. I like the idea of communities of dolphins splashing about the sea and talking to each other in their dolphin language. However, there is still hope for dolphin intelligence. It is only a theory that dolphins are intelligence is ordinary. But if proven to be true, this could be the saddest dashing of beloved childhood assumptions since we all found out Pluto wasn't really a planet! Wait, I just thought of another one. This could be as sad as when we found out that the Brontosaurus is no more then a Apatosaurus with the wrong head! On the other hand, some things are more interesting then originally suspected. When I was a kid, a polar bear was just another bear. Now polar bears are considered marine mammals, just like otters, seals and dolphins, which is pretty cool!
