Greenlake Ghosts

Here are some photo's I took on a sunny day at the lake.

Greenlake appears to be quite a cheerful and friendly place. But even vibrant and joyous Greenlake has a sinister side, including rumors of hauntings. In the 1920's, a young woman named Sylvia Gaines was found murdered at Greenlake. Sometimes people say they've seen her ghost wandering around the lake. It is a sad story though. Sylvia moved to Seattle so that she could get to know her father, a man who had been absent from her life for it's entirety. But it may have been her father who murdered her. A jury certainly thought so. He was convicted for Sylvia's murder and put to death. After his conviction was read out in the court room, Mr. Gains remained calm, no emotions racing across his face, no tensing of his muscles. But his brother, also a Seattle resident, sobbed for his brother. It's sad to think of Sylvia not getting to live her life. It's also sad thinking of her eternity as a ghost. It sounds dismal to wander around a lake year after year.  But it is better than being stuck inside a house like a lot of ghosts.
