Sammy and Jake: Best Friends for an Afternoon

Last summer, David and I were in the San Juan's visiting family, including one charming fellow named Sammy. Sammy is an energetic, happy-go-lucky labradoodle. While on a beautiful hike, Sammy made friends with another labradoodle named Jake. It was so adorable to watch them frolic and play.
I love how dogs never miss a chance to embrace the joy of play. Jake and Sammy formed an instant friendship as soon as they set eyes on each other. Dogs are the friends of all!
It is the new year, so us humans are all in a more reflective mood about what really matters in life. Dogs are the perfect teacher for this sort of thing. Dogs know that what matters in life is finding the joy in every day things. Dogs also know that the world is a really exciting place, full of adventure, potential friends and interesting things to explore.

I was watching an episode of the Twilight Zone today called 'The Hunt.' In this episode, a man almost goes to Hell but his loyalty to his dog saved him from a fate of certain doom and dismay. It is an awesome episode, mostly for it's message about respecting the bond between animal and person. Your friendships with your animals are just as important as your friendships with humans. I know my life would be drearier without the delightful company of my two cats, Mue Mue and Wendel. Those two are always cracking me up with their antics and making me happy with their general lovability.
