Galaxy Dress

I made myself a new dress! It is Galaxy themed.

Mue Mue says he is only interested in being a model if he is the star of the shoot, not just some cute 'prop!' The indignity. Luckily for me, he's cute even when he is grumpy. Luckily for him, his cuteness makes it impossible for him to not always be the star of the photo shoot, even if not the intention.

Outerspace not only makes a good fabric pattern for a dress, it makes an interesting subject to learn about. Here's a top five of where to learn interesting stuff about space:

  1. Startalk Radio: An informative yet funny podcast about all sorts of sciency subjects, but especially those related to outerspace. Hosted by good-natured genius Neil Degrass Tyson along with a rotating list of clever comedians. This is a great way to learn about science and space if you aren't a traditional science person.
  2. Radiolab's episode 'Space': An episode of the delightful science podcast Radiolab about Space.
  3. For All Mankind: A documentary about traveling to the moon! It is super fascinating with beautiful footage.
  4. Memory Palace: My favorite podcast Memory Palace has a few beautiful episodes on space traveling including this one about the darker side of space traveling called Guinea Pigs. It is a sad tribute to the animals who never agreed to be space travelers but were forced to. Here is another episode about space travel called 'Craning' about Apollo 11. Here is an episode called The Glowing Orbs about something mysterious and beautiful that John Glen saw while space traveling.
  5. Cosmos: Even though I am putting this on my list, I haven't seen this series! But I know Carl Sagan is an Astronomy hero and it is definitely on my 'to-watch' list!
  6. Your local planetarium: One of my absolute favorite field trips when I was a child was going to the planetarium! It is still fun as an adult!
