Sally the Sunflower

The sunflower
soaks in the shine
and the glimmer and the splash
of the weather and
the passing days.

Sally use to be a person who would get her nourishment though eating food and drinking water. But one day, she woke up and low and behold, she was a sunflower. She tried to get nourishment the old fashioned way, but food tasted disgusting, and while she still craved water, it felt all wrong going down her throat. She spent days moping around her apartment, so glum about her new situation. Finally, she went outside and it all started to make sense. The sun blasted upon her and she never felt more at peace. The rain that drenched around her feet filled her whole body with hydration. Her droopy leaves began to plump, the crunchy ends of her petals filled with lively color. She had never felt so full of the joy of being alive!
