Melinda Sunbathes on the Smooth Back of a Whale

Here is another painting to go with my Bizarre Maritime Themed Paintings. My plan is to make 100 but I haven't done one in quite a while. I'll be 75 before I'm finished with all 100!

Yesterday while at a marina on Lake Union, I saw some geese families. There were two families, one with tiny goslings that i could fit in my hand. The other with oslings that were right before that awkward phase where they really start looking like dinosaurs. Looking at baby geese in their awkward phase is really the best evidence for dinosaurs evolving into birds. I clicked at the geese and the family with the older goslings came floating over to me. It was very exciting because they were right next to me. I could have reached out and touched one and almost did. Just as my hand was hovering above the goslings back I pulled back. I thought the mother might get mad and not trust me anymore and I didn't want to get sunscreen on its back. One thing the parent geese do when they want to intimidate is hiss and wiggle their head. I understand the hissing, but I the effectiveness of head wiggling isn't as clear.
